Fortune Records was an independent record label operating from 1946-1955 that wholeheartedly exemplified what is so unique about Detroit’s industrious creative spirit. The mom-and-pop studio captured the raw talent of the city's most prolific recording artists with non-conventional ways and available equipment, and they did so beautifully with zeal and tenacity. The history of the label’s storied significance is graciously shared within “Mind Over Matter: The Myths & Mysteries of Detroit's Fortune Records” by Billy Miller and Michael Hurtt, a book which inspired this print.
