Molly Manor is a life-long friend, a sister, and someone whose creative always inspired and energized me. It was a dream come true to finally get to collaborate with Molly - bringing together our two different focuses, we turned her one of a kind acrylic paintings into illustrated risograph prints. I love the way Molly’s style translated even within the restraints of process printing.
Through this project, I learned more about sizing for prints; for example, even if you want to sell something as ‘full bleed’ it should have a paper border for handling and the artists signature. Since I wanted Molly’s prints to be ‘full bleed’ at 8"x 10", I should have trimmed them to 10"x12", with a 2” white border on all sides. It’s tricky to navigate the possibilities of sizing, especially when attempting to make things compatible with common frame sizes (could Target and IKEA please get together and find some common ground?).
